Overview

BIHER is a private deemed-to-be university headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Founded in 1984 by Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan under the Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust as Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) — Tamil Nadu's first self-financing engineering college — it was granted deemed-university status in July 2002. Motto: 'Win the world by innovation. To the stars by hard work.' BIHER today functions as an umbrella over a group of colleges spanning engineering, medicine, dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, law, management, and arts & science, educating close to 10,000 students across six campuses in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
